Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my foundation needs repair?

Typically, when foundation is in need of repair, warning signs are all over the house. You may notice cracks in your basement walls, difficultly opening windows and doors, sagging floors or bowing walls, or even a sagging roof. If you have noticed one or more of these signs in your home, it’s time for foundation repairs.

Why is there mold in my basement?

A moldy basement is the result of unwanted moisture seeping in through the cracks, pipes, or sometimes leaky appliances. If you have checked your plumbing and appliances for leaks and are still experiencing a damp basement, there are probably tiny cracks in the foundation that can easily be sealed with basement waterproofing surfaces.

Is basement waterproofing worth it even if my home is new?

Absolutely! Taking preventative measures when your home is new is the best way to secure a solid foundation for many years. Having your basement waterproofed now could save you thousands on unwanted home repairs in the future.

Will replacing a wall in my basement cause damage to the rest of my house?

If the job is done right, then there should be no structural damage to the rest of your home. At Basement Masters, we carefully take out one section of the wall at a time and replace it with temporary reinforcements until the new wall is complete.

How long does a house’s foundation last?

When done correctly a house’s foundation will usually last between 80-100 years. If your home was built before 1920, you will want to have your foundation assessed for leaks or cracks.
